A Synagogue in Magdala

Leen Ritmyer has a nice post here on a first century synagogue discovered in 2009 at Magdala. The Gospels do not mention this synagogue but it can help us visualize synagogues from the time period. I do wish that the drawings would not be spoiled by the watermarks though.

The "Colossian Heresy"

Interpreters have frequently debated the exact nature and identity of the false teaching addressed by Paul in Colossians. But I am wondering whether it might be time to see the aberration as an amalgamation of various elements of false doctrine rather than a teaching traceable to a single source. In any case, the following is a slide that I have used in the past to help illustrate the false teaching in terms of a spectrum. Given what I have stated, I am not sure how helpful the visual is but include it nonetheless.
