The Personage Described in Daniel 11:36-45

Significant discussion and debate surround the identity of the personage described in Daniel 11:36–45. Paul Tanner has created a helpful table which I have modified the format slightly and added a few additional interpreters.

Cooking a Kid and Its Mother’s Milk

The command to “not cook a young goat in its mother’s milk " (Exod 23:19; 34:26; Deut 14:21) is the text behind modern Jewish kosher practices. But it is also a text that has generated considerable discussion and debate. Stefan Schorch has a good discussion of the texts both biblical and traditional here. But what I found most interesting was the possible allusion to the practice in Amos 6:3.
