Archaeological Conservation

During my recent participation at the Tel Gezer dig, I learned that what is uncovered must either be protected or conserved. So sometimes what is uncovered is re-covered to protect it. In other cases, what has been exposed is left exposed. In such instances, conservation or preservation is undertaken.
