Although not specifically related to the Bible, Archaeology magazine has an interesting article here related to how dental factors may affect pronunciation. I am not a trained linguist but I think it likely that this is correct. The small grit and stones from the ubiquitous use of grinding implements in the ancient Near East for food production affected the wear of teeth and this in turn may have had an impact on pronunciation.
